- I married a man that was compulsive spender. During our marriage, we were forced to file the awful BK to save our house, but he still could not reign his spending.
- In order to 'save' my marriage (which was a failure), I allowed him to handle the house bills against the advice of my family and friends.
- I divorced this man, and had to pay my attorney bill, WHICH I did (but it took me two years!)
- I had back taxes to pay back due to a withdrawal of funds from my 401K in one of the failed attempts to save the house.
- I got some high interest credit cards, but dummy me would use them and only pay the minimum.
- I got involved with a man that had no money sense and we moved into together, living way above our means.
- I got a Cash Call Loan (paid off thank you 401K Loan)
- I got a new car, but it has negative equity (meaning I folded in the amount I owed on my previous car loan... BAD MOVE)
- I got my own place for a bit, but the cost of living here in sunny California was too much, and I would get more and more cards, racking up more debt
- The BF and I reconciled and I moved back.
- The BF's business took a hit during this recession.
So where am I now.....
- Realizing that I need help in controlling my spending
- Attending Debt Anonymous meetings
- Reaching out to anyone for support
- Making a slow and steady pace to the finish line.
Well, that is it. Not much different than other stories that I have read. This blog is my way of keeping myself accountable for my spending. So now, I must hit the road, jump on my cyber-spaceship to Planet Debt Free. Come along for the ride!
